In an effort to increase the security of their data, more and more companies and businesses are migrating their databases to a cloud infrastructure, and with good reason. When implemented correctly, cloud computing can be just as reliable as traditional on-prem data centers. But migration to cloud computing raises a series of security concerns because sensitive information moves out of the confines of your firewall into the hands of cloud providers. Although the infrastructure differs, ensuring data security in the cloud follows the same principles used in traditional data centers: user authentication and identity verification, access control mechanisms, integrity checks, encryption, secure deletion, and data masking.
To be a viable alternative to traditional data storing mechanisms, data security in cloud computing needs to focus on the issues raised by a series of critical concepts inherent to data protection: data integrity preservation, privacy protection, data availability, and privacy, encryption mechanisms, threat mitigation and response procedures, internal policies concerning data access.
