We are happy to announce that Dragos Rautu has been appointed as our new Chief Technology Officer. Alin Iftemi will continue to play a crucial role as Head of Modex.
Dragos Rautu joined Modex about two years ago as Head of Custom Development to help set the technical vision of the company’s products. Since then, Dragos has been the technical lead behind our latest project, Modex Blockchain Database, a product designed to target the enterprise sphere.
As a middleware software, Modex BCDB positions itself between client application servers and database to facilitate a seamless connection to a blockchain-powered back end. Envisioned as a modular solution which enhances the capabilities of a traditional database, Modex BCDB bestows all the advantages of blockchain technology like data immutability, integrity, and distribution, without requiring clients to hire an in-house team of blockchain developers to build a completely new framework from the ground up.
With a minimally invasive approach, this new take on data storage and management maintains the client’s database intact, the connection to a blockchain framework is done entirely through a series of connectors. Among the biggest advantages of the BCDB middleware is the fact that it is both database and blockchain agnostic, meaning that it supports multiple databases and different blockchain engines.
This aspect can prove invaluable to a consortium network of companies where each member has a different database provider. With our solution, companies aren’t required to change their database providers, because our system is designed to enable the connection of different databases at the same blockchain node simultaneously.
The road map so far
Modex has positioned itself at the forefront of blockchain adoption, and during 2018, it has managed to reach every milestone and deliver on its promises. Modex Marketplace, an environment which bridges the gap between developers and companies looking to streamline operations and increase productivity with smart contracts represents the first step done by the company to promote and support widespread adoption of blockchain.
Acknowledging that blockchain technology is still in its early stages, and that there is a steep learning curve for getting involved in blockchain development which is further complicated by the lack of tools, Modex has created a developer ecosystem which encompasses a set of tools custom-built by developers, for developers: Solidity IDE, source code auditing machine, test net, block explorer.
Adoption into the mainstream of blockchain depends on a myriad of factors, and education ranks among the top of the list. To do its part, Modex laid the foundation for Modex Academy, a set of comprehensive courses designed to target individuals with no background in tech, as well as courses specially tailored to enable developers to make the transition to blockchain development with our extensive toolkit.
Due to the positive feedback received by Modex BCDB, our company has decided to channel a significant portion of its resources and efforts on the enterprise sphere. As the person in charge of the team behind the development of Modex BCDB, it has been decided that Dragos should be appointed as the new CTO of the company.
“Dragos has been working with us at this product for almost two years, and we have been considering him for the CTO position for some time. We strongly believe that blockchain will soon see an exponential increase in adoption levels in the enterprise segment.
Considering the fact that Dragos has successfully brought our vision to life, and managed to coordinate the development team, demonstrates that he is the right person for the job. Furthermore, this shift also signals our intention to focus more on the enterprise application of blockchain technology and Modex BCDB, so it seems logical to make Dragos responsible with the technical directive of the product he worked on with his team.
I will maintain my position of Head of Modex, and actively participate in business and product development by providing ideas and concepts, but everything related to technical development will be done by Dragos”, stated Alin Iftemi, Head of Modex.
“Our main focus will be BCDB, but this does not mean that we will ignore Modex Marketplace, Academy, and the community tools. On the contrary, we intend to integrate BCDB with the marketplace and community tools, so we will always have a team working on them. The development team is working on a set of new features, smart contracts, which can be developed through our community tools and sold on our marketplace”, added Dragos Rautu, Modex CTO.
When talking about BCDB, the new CTO stated that “the product is live at the moment for the B2B model, and that the team is currently working on the B2C release, namely the downloadable product which can be installed by any programmer. Once the B2C version will be officially released, a new series of developments, including smart contracts will take center stage. Other than that, we are constantly working to increase the stability of the product, improve security and extend the blockchain and database components even further.”
Blockchain company Modex is promoting the adoption of blockchain technology and strongly believes in a future built around blockchain. Modex offers fully integrated services designed to solve the last mile adoption problem of the blockchain and aims to make blockchain user-friendly for every single device or person.
At Modex, we can innovate thanks to our incredible team of experts and we offer services for the entire blockchain technology ecosystem: Marketplace for Smart Contracts, community tools for developers and blockchain as database services for enterprises. In over two years, using cutting-edge technologies and with a clear strategy, Modex has evolved from the world’s first app store for blockchain into a complex ecosystem designed for developers’ needs and enterprises looking for blockchain solutions. Our mission is to spread and facilitate the adoption of blockchain into society and to solve real-world problems using this revolutionary technology.
