Last week, Modex took center stage at DevTalks Cluj-Napoca, an event which gathered more than 1,500 developers and IT professionals from Romania and abroad. At the Emerging Tech section, Florin Otto, VP of Product at Modex, highlighted the advantages of blockchain, while Dan Popescu, Software Tech Lead, welcomed those interested in finding out more at Modex’s booth.
Held in May every year, DevTalks Cluj-Napoca connects the IT community and developers across the world, helping them to share their experiences. This year’s edition of DevTalks brought to the public’s attention useful applications developed by young people in order to save time and welcomed hundreds of professionals who attended technical workshops and conferences on various hot topics from the industry. There were 7 dedicated conferences and demos areas, study cases, hands-on workshops, as well as 60 international and local speakers.
Focus on blockchain and developers
In front of almost 200 developers and tech professionals eager to know more about this groundbreaking technology, Modex’s VP of Product started his keynote by explaining how blockchain works, how transactions are validated, what’s a hash and so on, after which he showed a timeline of how blockchain has evolved: first generation, second generation, third generation. Florin Otto continued his presentation with some real-world use cases that showed how blockchain could disrupt industries and change things for the better.
Giving back the power in the consumers’ hands
“We can live in a decentralized world and give back the power in the consumer hands by giving them ownership to their data, to their money, to their healthcare. The world relies on us — developers — to do this and we are capable of doing this, therefore it’s our duty to do this!” stated Florin Otto during his keynote. “The audience was really interested in finding out more about blockchain and about the development tools available on the market. I was delighted to see that more and more people aim to delve deeper in the world of blockchain. Overall, the event was well organized and I’d like to congratulate the hosts for this.”
The interest for Modex and our developer tools was high
Dan Popescu, Software Tech Lead: “I was happy to welcome, at Modex’s booth, many people and to offer them details about our company. 50% of those who interacted with us were developers and students, 25% seniors, 15% individuals who wanted to find out more about cryptocurrencies and 10% product professionals. Everyone was excited about what Modex brings to the market, about our Marketplace for Smart Contracts, the community we’ve built so far, as well as Modex Academy, the educational side of our business and Modex Enterprise. Many of those who approached us, especially students and developers, also wanted to know if we also have an office in Cluj-Napoca and how they could join our team.”
